Renfe Fuels Price War with Tickets Starting at Seven Euros

Renfe has initiated its “Superprecios” campaign, offering train tickets starting at just seven euros for Avlo services and 15 euros for AVE and other long-distance options. This strategic move aims to attract summer travelers and intensify competition in the rail market.

Details of the Price War

This promotional campaign is reminiscent of previous efforts, particularly in January when Renfe introduced similar limited-time offers. The strategy aims to challenge competitors like Ouigo and Iryo, especially on busy routes such as Madrid-Barcelona, Andalucía, and the Comunidad Valenciana.

Promotional Offers

  • Ticket Prices: Tickets for Avlo start at seven euros; AVE and other services start at 15 euros.
  • Upgrades: Passengers can upgrade a Basic ticket to the Elige option for an additional three euros, allowing for flexible changes and cancellations.
  • International Travel: For trips to France, an extra six euros is required for access to Confort seats.

The “Superprecios” tickets will be marked for easy identification and will depend on availability. The campaign includes some of the most sought-after routes for the summer season.

Booking and Travel Timeline

The promotion will be available for purchases from May 27 to June 4. Travelers can use these tickets to journey between June 22 and September 13, 2026, on various trains including AVE, Avlo, Alvia, Euromed, Intercity, and AVE Internacional.

Renfe’s initiative reinforces its commitment to providing competitive pricing and enhancing travel options for passengers. As the summer season approaches, these incentives are expected to boost rail travel significantly.
