Residents in Brinnington, Stockport, are feeling unsettled following a recent shooting incident that left many in the community shaken. The event unfolded on Thursday night around 10:40 PM in the vicinity of Dent Close and Lapwing Lane.
Gunshots and Disturbance in the Neighborhood
On the night of the shooting, witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots, followed by frantic screams of “he’s dead.” One local resident recounted seeing two vehicles speeding away from the scene shortly after the incident.
Police Response and Arrests
Greater Manchester Police confirmed that they responded to reports of a disturbance, which included a suspected discharge of firearms. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. The swift police response led to six arrests being made.
- Five men, aged between 17 and 45, were arrested on suspicion of affray.
- A 19-year-old man was detained for possession of a firearm and remains in custody.
Detective Sergeant Kirsty Pierce stated that the police consider this incident isolated but acknowledge the concern it has caused within the community. The investigation is ongoing, with further inquiries being conducted at three properties in Stockport.
