Gauff Overcomes Lys’ Challenge to Reach Beijing Semifinals

Coco Gauff continues her impressive run at the China Open, securing a spot in the semifinals after a hard-fought match against Eva Lys. The second seed triumphed over Lys with a score of 6-3, 6-4, taking 1 hour and 28 minutes to complete the quarterfinal showdown in Beijing.

Gauff Advances to Semifinals

This victory marks Gauff’s fourth semifinal appearance in 2025 and her first non-clay semifinal since her win at last year’s WTA Finals in Riyadh. With this win, she improves her career record in Beijing to 14-1. “She’s a tough opponent, she hit some incredible shots on the run,” Gauff remarked after the match. “I was trying my best to stay aggressive and confident in my game.”
