Toronto Braces for 5 cm of Snow After Spring-like Weather

Residents of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) should prepare for a significant weather shift. After enjoying a week of unseasonably warm, spring-like temperatures, winter will make a return.

Forecast for Snow in Toronto

According to Environment Canada, the GTA is expecting up to five centimeters of snow starting Friday. There are also indications of potential rain mixing with the snow, which could impact the total accumulation.

Detailed Weather Predictions

  • Thursday: A 30% chance of flurries is predicted for the morning, with wind chills dropping to -10°C.
  • Friday: Periods of snow or rain throughout the day, with an expected low of -6°C at night.
  • Snow Accumulation: Five centimeters is likely, with some areas possibly experiencing closer to ten centimeters, particularly in the northwest regions.

Lyndsay Morrison, a weather anchor at CTV News Toronto, stated that uncertainty remains in the storm’s track, which could affect snowfall amounts. If temperatures are mild, there might be rain, reducing snow totals.

Winter Weather Following Warm Days

The GTA recently enjoyed four consecutive days with temperatures reaching double digits. This warm spell marked the first signs of spring following a winter characterized by multiple deep freezes.

Looking ahead, more snow may be on the way. Environment Canada has forecasted a 60% chance of flurries or rain showers on Sunday, potentially adding to the winter weather patterns.
