Maple Leafs Promote Marlies Top Scorer for Canadiens Clash

The Toronto Maple Leafs have officially announced the promotion of Bo Groulx from the Toronto Marlies. This decision comes as the team grapples with a challenging seven-game losing streak, currently standing at 0-5-2.
Promoting Bo Groulx Amidst Struggles
Groulx has emerged as a standout performer for the Marlies, leading the team with impressive statistics this season. In 50 games, he has recorded a total of 27 goals and 23 assists. His offensive prowess could provide much-needed depth to the Maple Leafs as they face the Montreal Canadiens.
Background on Bo Groulx
- Drafted in the second round (54th overall) by the Anaheim Ducks in 2018.
- Played 45 games with the Ducks last season, contributing two assists.
- Originally from France, Groulx grew up in Quebec.
Current Team Situation
The Maple Leafs’ depth at center has diminished following recent trades. They traded Nicolas Roy to the Colorado Avalanche, acquiring a conditional first-round pick for 2027 and a conditional fifth-round pick for 2026. Additionally, Scott Laughton was sent to the Los Angeles Kings for a conditional third-round pick in 2026, which can upgrade to a second-round pick if the Kings make the playoffs this season.
Lineup Adjustments
During practice, changes were made to the team’s lineup. Jacob Quillan has been promoted to the third-line center position, joined by Easton Cowan and Nick Robertson. The fourth line will feature Steven Lorentz with Dakota Joshua and Calle Jarnkrok.
As for Groulx’s potential inclusion against the Canadiens, it remains uncertain. The Maple Leafs are set to conduct an optional morning skate, where head coach Craig Berube may provide updates on Groulx’s status.
