Dacia Unveils Striker: Revitalizing the Affordable Family Estate Car

Dacia is making significant strides in the affordable family car market with the unveiling of the Striker. This new model is set to revitalize the segment by addressing the needs of budget-conscious families.
Dacia’s Commitment to Affordability
The company’s core mission centers on offering value. Frank Marotte, the vice-president of sales and marketing, emphasized the importance of affordability across various vehicle sizes and customer needs. He highlighted that many potential customers hold onto older vehicles due to financial constraints.
Addressing Market Gaps
Dacia has keenly analyzed the mid-size car segment, also known as the C-segment. This market presents a unique opportunity as existing competitors have shifted away from budget-friendly options. Marotte stated, “If we come with something different in the C-hatch or the C-wagon, it will cater to a need created by others moving away from customers.”
- Targeting a gap in the market
- Offering competitive pricing, approximately €10,000 (£8,800) less than rivals
Ambitious Sales Goals
Dacia’s aim is to significantly increase its annual sales from 676,340 vehicles to one million. CEO Katrin Adt announced that 20% of these sales are expected to derive from the C-segment, which will elevate revenue through premium pricing.
New Vehicle Developments
The Striker is part of Dacia’s wider strategy to diversify its offerings. Alongside this model, the company boasts a strong order bank of 50,000 for the Bigster SUV. Additionally, the next generation of the Spring electric car is set to debut in the A-segment, focusing on city driving.
Powertrain Options
While the Dacia Striker is not expected to feature a fully electric powertrain, Adt confirmed that all upcoming models will include hybrid options, blending efficiency with performance.
This strategic approach demonstrates Dacia’s dedication to evolving within the automotive landscape while remaining true to its principles of affordability.
