East Anglia Railway Ready for Easter Travelers

Travelers planning to explore East Anglia this Easter will be pleased to know that the majority of the railway network will be operational. Passengers can expect normal services from London Liverpool Street over the long Easter weekend.
Service Availability for Easter Travelers
East Anglia’s railway services will provide connections to numerous destinations including:
- Southend Victoria
- Chelmsford
- Colchester
- Ipswich
- Norwich
- Cambridge
- Stansted Airport
The West Anglia mainline, including the Stansted Express, will operate regularly through Tottenham Hale, ensuring access to both Cambridge and the airport. London Overground services will also function from Liverpool Street to destinations such as Cheshunt, Enfield Town, and Chingford.
Engineering Works and Service Adjustments
While most of the network is operational, some train services may be affected due to ongoing engineering work. Key updates include:
- Re-signalling work between Cambridge and Ely.
- Engineering maintenance between Fenchurch Street and Barking for Thames Water bridge repairs.
- Track repairs between Stratford and Meridian Water.
As part of this work, travelers should be aware of the following adjustments:
- Buses will replace trains between Cambridge and Ely/Bury St. Edmunds, as well as Cambridge and Kings Lynn on specific weekends.
- C2C services will be diverted from Fenchurch Street to Liverpool Street from April 3 to April 6.
- Greater Anglia services will be suspended between Meridian Water and Stratford on April 5, with diversions in place on that day.
Recommendations for Travelers
Officials emphasize the importance of planning ahead. Jamie Burles, of Greater Anglia, highlighted the benefits of a mostly open network for both passengers and local communities. Jenny Saunders from Great Northern noted that most services will remain operational, but some passengers will face longer bus journeys due to engineering work.
Travelers are encouraged to use online journey planners to ensure smooth travel during the Easter holiday period. The network aims to provide a reliable service to help passengers enjoy their travels to cities, countryside, and coastal destinations.
Understanding East Anglia’s Railway System
The railway plays a vital role in the region, connecting communities and facilitating millions of journeys yearly. With 20,000 miles of track and over 30,000 structures, the railway network undergoes continuous upgrades to meet growing demand, which has doubled in the last two decades.
