Ferrari Unveils SF-26: Hamilton, Leclerc’s 2026 Car Targets Improved Season

Ferrari has unveiled its SF-26, the team’s challenger for the new regulations in the 2026 Formula 1 season. The car made its debut with Lewis Hamilton at the Fiorano test track in Italy amid rainy conditions.

2026 Season Expectations

The SF-26 marks a critical shift for Ferrari, following a disappointing performance in 2025. That season saw Hamilton’s first year with the team end without a podium finish, a first in his career. The team finished fourth in the constructors’ standings, falling short of expectations.

In contrast, Charles Leclerc managed to secure seven podiums throughout the 2025 season but was unable to add to his eight career victories. This left both drivers frustrated as they prepare for a new chapter in 2026.

Testing Schedule

As part of the new regulations, Ferrari will participate in a rigorous pre-season testing schedule:

  • Barcelona Test: January 26-30 – Closed event
  • Bahrain Tests:
    • February 11-13
    • February 18-20

These tests are crucial for all teams to fine-tune their vehicles before the season begins.

First Race Details

The opening race of the 2026 season will be the Australian Grand Prix, set to take place in Melbourne from March 6-8. The practice sessions will begin on March 6, followed by qualifying on March 7. The first race is scheduled for March 8.

A New Beginning for Ferrari

Team principal Frederic Vasseur expressed optimism about the upcoming season. “The team is aligned and more united than ever as we look ahead to the season,” he stated. The introduction of new chassis and power unit regulations offers a renewed hope for Ferrari to reclaim its position at the front of the grid.

As anticipation mounts for the 2026 Formula 1 season, fans will be watching closely to see if Hamilton and Leclerc can leverage the new SF-26 to elevate Ferrari’s performance.
