In the wake of François Legault’s unexpected resignation, several prominent figures within the Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) are contemplating their bids for leadership. Simon Jolin-Barrette, Bernard Drainville, and Christine Fréchette are notably considering entering the race.
Current Candidates and Their Aspirations
Simon Jolin-Barrette, the Minister of Justice, is actively reflecting on his potential candidacy. He emphasized his commitment to Quebec’s economic strength and a bold nationalism. He stated, “My decision is not made, but I am in serious reflection.” His call for a strong economic agenda aligns with his desire to protect Quebec’s identity.
