Philadelphia Hosts 3 Firework Shows and Free Concert on New Year’s Eve

Philadelphia is set to welcome 2024 with an exciting lineup of events, including three fireworks displays and a free concert. This year’s celebrations mark the beginning of the city’s preparations for the nation’s 250th anniversary.
Fireworks Shows and Concert Details
The festivities will kick off with the first fireworks show at 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve at Penn’s Landing. A second display will occur at the same location at midnight. Additionally, Eakins Oval will host another midnight fireworks show following the first-ever free New Year’s Eve concert.
Gates at Eakins Oval will open at 6 p.m. The concert, headlined by renowned rapper LL Cool J, will begin at 8 p.m. Several notable performers, including local talent DJ Jazzy Jeff and Adam Blackstone from Willingboro, New Jersey, will also take the stage.
Security and Safety Measures
With security a top priority, officials have planned extensive measures to ensure a safe environment during the celebrations. Various agencies, including the Office of Emergency Management (OEM), will participate in a coordinated security effort. Surveillance will involve permanent cameras, mobile trailers, and drones in the Parkway area.

Free viewing locations for the fireworks in Philadelphia include:
- Penn’s Landing
- Race Street Pier
- Spruce Street Harbor Park
- Pier 69
- Washington Avenue Pier
Additionally, Cherry Street Pier will host two paid events, including a children’s event at 6 p.m. for $27 per person and an adult event at 10 p.m. for $32 per person. Parking near Penn’s Landing may cost up to $40 in some lots.
Transportation Options
SEPTA is enhancing services to accommodate revelers. Attendees heading to Penn’s Landing for the midnight fireworks are encouraged to use the Market-Frankford Line to the 2nd Street Station. Additional trains will run on the Market-Frankford and Broad Street lines before and after the show. Regional Rail will operate on a weekday schedule, showcasing special late-night services for those coming from outside the city.
