Zaide Lowery Exits Marquette Basketball Team

Zaide Lowery has officially exited the Marquette men’s basketball team, as announced by the school on December 28. This decision marks the end of a challenging period for the junior guard.

Overview of Lowery’s Time at Marquette

Standing at 6 feet 5 inches tall, Lowery initially showcased promise when he joined the Golden Eagles in April 2022, recruited after impressing on the AAU circuit with the Missouri Flight.

In his freshman year (2022-23), Lowery had limited playing time but gained recognition for his potential. He had a standout game as a sophomore, scoring 25 points against Villanova on February 21, demonstrating his ability to perform under pressure.

Struggles and Transition

This season, however, has been tumultuous for Lowery. He started in the first nine games but struggled with consistency and lost his starting position to freshman Adrien Stevens following a matchup against Wisconsin on December 6.

Lowery’s playing time dwindled, culminating in only 12 minutes during a game against Purdue. He did not come off the bench during the Big East opener against Georgetown on December 17, and missed the subsequent game against Creighton on December 20 for personal reasons.

Looking Ahead

With the decision to part ways, Lowery is now exploring opportunities with new teams. Marquette coaches had seen potential in him, but the journey proved difficult.
