Celtics to Miss Two Former Players in Trail Blazers Clash

The Boston Celtics are set to face the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday evening. However, the Celtics will be without two key players: Jrue Holiday and Robert Williams III.

Absences of Key Players

Jrue Holiday, who was part of the Celtics from 2023 to 2025, will not participate in the game. He was traded to the Trail Blazers in June as part of a deal that also included guard Anfernee Simons. Holiday had made a strong start this season, averaging 16.7 points, 8.3 assists, and 5.3 rebounds over 12 games. Unfortunately, since November 14, he has been sidelined due to a calf injury.

Robert Williams III, known as the “Time Lord,” also entered the season with injury issues. He spent his first five years with the Celtics before being traded to Portland in October 2023 as part of the same deal that brought Holiday to Boston. Williams missed the first five games of the current season but played in 20 of the last 26 games. He’s currently dealing with a knee injury, contributing 6.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game.
