Lotto Max to Undergo Significant Changes in 2026

Significant transformations are on the horizon for Lotto Max, a popular lottery game in Canada. These modifications, announced by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG), will come into effect on April 14, 2026.

Lotto Max Jackpot to Increase

The current maximum jackpot for Lotto Max stands at $80 million. However, under the new rules, this amount will escalate to an impressive $90 million. This change sets a new record for jackpot levels in Canadian lotteries.

Additional Prizes Available

The enhancements are not limited to just the jackpot. Lotto Max will introduce multiple $100,000 prizes in every draw, correlated to the jackpot size. For example:

  • With a $10 million jackpot, there will be 10 additional $100,000 prizes.
  • As the jackpot increases to $90 million, the number of $100,000 prizes can reach 90.

These new prizes will be in addition to the Maxmillions prizes that can also be won.

Ticket Price Adjustment

While the enhancements promise more excitement, they will come with a slight increase in ticket prices. Currently, Lotto Max tickets are priced at $5. Starting in 2026, the price will rise to $6. According to OLG, this adjustment will help sustain and expand the range of prizes offered to players.

Continuing Commitment to Players

Since the introduction of Lotto Max in 2009, ticket prices have remained unchanged. OLG emphasized its commitment to keeping the game engaging and enjoyable for players. These upcoming changes are aimed at enhancing the overall lottery experience.

As players prepare for these adjustments, it remains crucial to gamble responsibly. With any form of gambling, there are risks involved. Individuals experiencing gambling-related issues are encouraged to seek assistance through available resources.
