Unique Release Method
During a concert in Moncton, New Brunswick, DeMarco surprised fans by distributing CD-R copies of Seven Off the Two directly at the barricade. A Reddit user shared their experience after the concert, stating, “Went to the Mac concert last night and got a different CD.” This sparked excitement among fans, many of whom urged the original poster to share the album online.
Album Features and Reception
On December 7, two days post-concert, the album was uploaded to SoundCloud under the username MacFan12345. Seven Off the Two consists of eight tracks characterized by mellow acoustic vibes, with DeMarco’s signature falsetto delivering enigmatic lyrics.
- The opening track features an eight-minute drum sequence, reminiscent of his previous mostly-instrumental project, One Wayne G.

In a brief interview at the Arte Concert Festival in Paris, DeMarco referred to Seven Off the Two as “Mac’s Secret Album.” He noted that he had compiled several recordings between his tours, hinting that more secretive releases could be in the pipeline. The album, spanning 39 minutes, showcases a relaxed style akin to Guitar, but devoid of lyrics.
Since debuting in the early 2010s, DeMarco has remained dedicated to his artistry. He established his own label in 2019 and continues to release music on his own terms. Following the debut of Dog on the Rock, Mac’s Record Label promoted snippets of the music via Instagram, indicating support for these unconventional releases.
Tour Highlights
Currently, DeMarco is set to perform two consecutive sold-out shows at Massey Hall in Toronto on December 8 and 9. Fans attending these events may have the opportunity to obtain their own copies of Seven Off the Two.
