Meteorology Forecasts Thunderstorms and Strong Winds in Provinces Until Thursday

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority warns of unstable weather conditions across the country. Thunderstorms, strong winds, and rain showers are expected to affect several regions until Thursday.

Meteorology Forecasts Thunderstorms and Strong Winds Until Thursday

According to Dr. Manar Ghanem from the media center of the Egyptian Meteorological Authority, the country is currently experiencing significant weather instability. Thunderstorm clouds are forming, especially in coastal provinces, with an extension expected to other regions in the coming days.

Weather Impacts and Precautions

The impending thunderstorms will bring swift and powerful winds, particularly at the bases of the clouds. Dr. Ghanem advises residents to exercise caution. Safety measures include avoiding metal structures, billboards, and tall trees during thunderstorms.

  • Avoid open areas and stay indoors during thunderstorms.
  • Keep away from tall trees and structures that could fall.
  • Drive slowly in areas with water accumulation.

With the forecast indicating rain, safe driving practices are crucial, particularly where water collects. It’s also recommended to wear heavy winter clothing throughout the day due to a significant drop in temperatures.

Potential Rainfall Areas

The expected rainfall will vary in intensity across several provinces, including:

  • Matrouh
  • Alexandria
  • Beheira
  • Kafr El-Sheikh
  • Dakahlia
  • Damietta
  • Gharbia
  • Sharkia

Rain is set to extend into Greater Cairo and parts of northern Upper Egypt, Sinai, the Gulf of Suez, and the Gulf of Aqaba, with moderate rainfall anticipated.

Temperature Expectations

Dr. Ghanem clarifies common misconceptions about temperature drops. While the lowest recorded temperatures are around 4–5 degrees Celsius in St. Catherine, the overall temperatures will remain within typical seasonal ranges.

For accurate updates on weather conditions tailored to specific areas, residents are encouraged to monitor announcements from the Egyptian Meteorological Authority regularly. The severity of rainfall and related weather changes can vary greatly from province to province and day to day.
