Dame Joanna Lumley Alerts: 1.5 Million Seniors Face Christmas Alone Crisis

Dame Joanna Lumley has highlighted a pressing issue concerning loneliness among seniors, indicating that 1.5 million older individuals are poised to spend Christmas in isolation. Findings from a survey conducted by Age UK involving over 2,600 participants revealed alarming statistics: 11% of seniors will have Christmas dinner alone, and 5% will not have any social interaction throughout the day. These figures extrapolate to about 1.5 million isolated seniors during the festive season.
