Los Angeles: Murder-Suicide Claims Two City Employees at Atwater Village Plant

In a tragic incident, two city employees lost their lives in an apparent murder-suicide at the Los Angeles Glendale Water Reclamation Plant. The event occurred on Tuesday morning at the facility located at 4600 Colorado Boulevard in Atwater Village.
Murder-Suicide Investigation at Atwater Village Plant
Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers were called to the scene shortly before 6 a.m. after receiving reports of a person down with a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, they discovered two men with fatal injuries.
Victims Identified as City Employees
- One victim is in his late 30s.
- The other victim is in his mid-50s.
A firearm was found at the location, leading investigators to categorize the incident as a murder-suicide. The identities of the deceased individuals remain undisclosed at this time.

Mayor Karen Bass expressed her condolences in a statement, acknowledging the loss of life among city sanitation employees. She stated, “I am deeply saddened by the shooting deaths of two City Sanitation employees at the LA Glendale Water Reclamation Plant. My heart breaks for this loss of life.”
To support affected staff, the Mayor’s Office activated the Crisis Response Team and ensured access to mental health counselors through the Personnel Department.
