Joe Sugg Discusses ‘Strictly Curse’ with BBC Co-Star Excluding Dianne Buswell

Joe Sugg has spoken out about the infamous “Strictly curse,” shedding light on past rumors linking him to a co-star from the BBC dance show. Sugg, a YouTube star who gained fame competing on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018, later formed a well-known relationship with dance partner Dianne Buswell.
Rumors and the Strictly Curse
During a recent episode of The Fellas podcast, Sugg discussed how rumors regarding his romantic involvement with co-star Faye Tozer emerged prior to his relationship with Buswell. He noted that the connection stemmed from a nostalgic video that showed him admiring Tozer when he was younger.
“I remember I said, I used to fancy Faye,” Sugg explained. “They brought that up and tried to make it out like there was already a Strictly curse going on between me and Faye.” He clarified that there was no romantic relationship between them, as he was only a fan of Tozer’s work in the popular band, Steps.
Life with Dianne Buswell
Joe Sugg’s relationship with Dianne Buswell blossomed during their time on Strictly. The couple has been together since the show’s conclusion and has remained in the spotlight. In September, the two announced they were expecting their first child through an Instagram video.
The announcement featured the couple painting a canvas that represented their growing family. The artwork depicted stick figures holding hands, with a third smaller figure marked for their baby due in 2026. The caption joyfully revealed their excitement: “Our little baby boy. We cannot wait to meet you.”

Recent Developments in Strictly Come Dancing
This year, Dianne Buswell left the Strictly Come Dancing competition after her partner, Neighbours actor Stefan Dennis, had to withdraw due to a calf injury. Previously, Buswell celebrated victory in the previous series, winning the glitterball trophy alongside comedian Chris McCausland, who made history as the first blind contestant to triumph in the show.
