Vanoni’s music career began with a performance in Federico Zardi’s “I Giacobini” at the Piccolo Theater. She focused on “canzoni della mala,” reflecting themes of the underworld, which she showcased at the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto in 1959. Throughout her career, Vanoni participated in eight editions of the prestigious Sanremo Music Festival. Notably, she was the only female artist to win the Tenco Prize twice.
