Pacers Secure Young Forward with 2-Year Deal, Waive Veteran Guard

Jeremiah Robinson-Earl has secured a two-year deal with the Indiana Pacers. The contract is non-guaranteed but includes a team option for the following season. This decision comes after Robinson-Earl performed well during two 10-day hardship contracts, leading the Pacers to retain him.
Pacers Waive Veteran Guard Monte Morris
To create space on the roster for Robinson-Earl, the Pacers have waived veteran point guard Monte Morris. This roster change was confirmed by a reliable league source.
Robinson-Earl’s Performance
Robinson-Earl, a 25-year-old forward, joined the Pacers in November as a response to significant injuries affecting the team. He first signed a hardship exception contract on November 1, which allowed the Pacers to exceed the standard roster limit. He then secured a second contract on November 11.
Robinson-Earl stands at 6 feet 9 inches and weighs 230 pounds. While he has averaged 5.2 points per game and shot 36.4% from the field, his contributions on defense have been notable. He has averaged 6.2 rebounds and recorded six steals over ten games.
Morris’s Struggles
Monte Morris, who was added to the team at the same time as Robinson-Earl, faced challenges in getting playing time. With Andrew Nembhard and T.J. McConnell back from injuries, Morris’s role diminished. He has averaged just 3.0 points and 1.5 assists per game.
As the Pacers navigate a difficult season, they have struggled significantly, currently holding a 2-13 record after an NBA Finals appearance last year. The team is looking to revitalize their roster as they deal with multiple injuries.
Injury Impact
- Aaron Nesmith is expected to be out for approximately four weeks due to a knee sprain.
- Forward Johnny Furphy and Obi Toppin are also sidelined.
The Pacers are hoping that Robinson-Earl’s potential will help the team regain its footing during this challenging period.
