Pudsey Breaks ‘2p Challenge’ Record Despite Stormy Conditions

Pudsey has broken the record for the annual fundraising event for the BBC’s Children In Need appeal. This year’s fundraiser took place on Friday, November 14, and exceeded expectations despite challenging weather conditions.
Pudsey Breaks ‘2p Challenge’ Record
The event raised a remarkable total of £4,000.16, surpassing last year’s record of £3,236.43. With fewer coins available as people increasingly opt for card payments, this achievement is even more noteworthy.
Event Highlights
- The fundraiser aimed to fill an outline of Pudsey Bear at Pudsey Leisure Centre.
- Heavy rain did not deter participants from donating generously.
- Oh Hello Studio contributed an impressive £388.32 through their Paint a Pudsey activity.
- Face painting was provided by Debra Austin in the afternoon.
Community Support
Councillors Dawn and Simon Seary, who organized the event, expressed gratitude to the Pudsey Leisure Centre staff for their support. They opened up the main hall and provided inflatables for families to enjoy. Volunteers played a crucial role in counting the donations, clearing the hall, and preparing everything for collection.
Thanks were also extended to Farmac for assisting in moving bulk bags ready for banking. The event’s success was ultimately attributed to the residents of Pudsey, who saved their spare change and participated in this year’s challenge.
This outstanding outcome shows the community’s commitment to supporting the Children In Need initiative, making it a standout year for Pudsey.
