Mumbai Police Summons Orry in Rs 252-Crore Drug Case

The Mumbai Police have summoned social media figure Orhan “Orry” Awatramani regarding a significant drug case involving Rs 252 crore worth of mephedrone. He is required to appear at the Anti-Narcotics Cell’s (ANC) Ghatkopar unit at 10 AM on Thursday for questioning. Officials have indicated that this summons follows the discovery of Orry’s name during the ongoing investigation.
Background on the Rs 252-Crore Drug Case
This case dates back to March 2024, when authorities confiscated 126.14 kg of mephedrone from an illegal manufacturing site in Sangli district. The total value of the seized drugs is estimated at Rs 252 crore.
Connections to Rave Parties and Alleged Drug Network
Investigations have revealed that lavish rave parties were organized in both Mumbai and Dubai, allegedly linked to Mohammad Salim Mohammad Suhail Shaikh. Shaikh, viewed as a close associate of fugitive drug lord Salim Dola, is believed to have connections to the Dawood Ibrahim crime syndicate.
- Attendees at these parties reportedly included high-profile individuals such as:
- Alishah Parkar, son of the late Haseena Parkar
- Actors Nora Fatehi, Shraddha Kapoor, and Siddhant Kapoor
- Film producers Abbas-Mustan and rapper Loka
Further investigations by the police are aimed at verifying the identities of those mentioned in connection with these events. They are currently in the process of corroborating the statements made by a trafficker already in custody.
Orry’s Involvement in the Case
Orry’s questioning is deemed procedural, aimed at clarifying the details surrounding the trafficker’s claims. The ANC is also analyzing digital communications and financial transactions linked to the events under review.
No charges have been filed against Orry at this stage of the investigation. Authorities have asserted that the inquiry remains in its preliminary phases, with further summons likely as they map the drug network.
Previous Controversies Involving Orry
This incident marks Orry’s second controversy involving substances. Earlier, he and several others were booked for allegedly drinking alcohol at a hotel in Katra near the Vaishno Devi shrine, where such activities are prohibited. This led to an FIR being filed for violating local laws and offending religious sentiments.
Orry, the son of businessman Suraj K. Awatramani, is known for his extravagant social media persona. Despite lacking a defined profession, he has gained popularity as an influencer and socialite, frequently associating with young Bollywood figures. His flamboyant lifestyle continues to capture public attention.
