Vodacom URC Empowers Women in Sports with 2026 Leadership Academy Launch

The URC Women’s Leadership Academy is paving the way for young women in sports. As it enters its fourth year, the initiative tackles significant barriers faced by women in the industry. Statistics reveal that 92% of women encounter obstacles when entering sports, and 80% seek mentoring and career development opportunities. This program aims to address those challenges and empower aspiring female leaders.
2026 Leadership Academy: Empowering Future Leaders
The 2026 URC Women’s Leadership Academy will select 50 successful applicants aged 18 to 26. Participants will engage in high-impact online workshops and mentoring sessions designed to enhance leadership skills, boost confidence, and develop professional capabilities. Graduates will also have the opportunity to be named “MVP” (Most Valuable Participant), which includes exclusive work experience at the URC Grand Final 2026 and an internship within the global sports sector.
Mentorship from Industry Leaders
This year’s Academy features an impressive lineup of mentors from various sectors of sports, business, and media. They will share valuable insights and guidance with participants. Confirmed speakers include:

Martin Anayi, CEO of the United Rugby Championship, highlighted the program’s significance. He noted that the Women’s Leadership Academy fosters transformative experiences. Six graduates from this initiative are already part of the URC Global Content Team, demonstrating the program’s effectiveness in bridging opportunity and talent.
