Approximately 200 officers from the Avon and Somerset Police were deployed to manage the situation. Chief Inspector Keith Smith expressed disappointment regarding some counter-protesters’ behavior. He mentioned:

  • Several counter-protesters were ordered to leave central Bristol.

Concerns About Officer Safety

Smith reported that one officer was hospitalized due to injuries sustained during the event. The police force continues to monitor the situation and is awaiting further updates on the officer’s condition.

Management of Protest Areas

To maintain peace, a dispersal zone and enhanced policing powers have been implemented. These measures will remain active until 22:00 GMT. Community safety remains a priority as authorities work to separate opposing groups effectively.
