Princess Anne Skips Remembrance Sunday; Opts for Alternative Tribute

This year, Remembrance Sunday was held at the Cenotaph in London, led by The King. The ceremony gathered thousands, including members of UK forces, political leaders, and the Royal Family. Notably, Princess Anne was absent from the event.

Princess Anne’s Absence

Usually prominent at military events, Princess Anne did not attend the ceremony in person. A wreath was laid on her behalf, which is a testament to her role in these commemorations. Anne’s absence was due to her official visit to Australia.

Official Visit and Wreath Laying

  • Location: Sydney, Australia
  • Date of Wreath Laying: 9 November
  • Event: Marking Remembrance Sunday
  • Site: ANZAC Memorial

As Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Australian Corps of Signals, Princess Anne visited Australia to commemorate the corps’ 100th anniversary on 8 November. During her stay, she laid a wreath at the Anzac Memorial in Sydney.

Upcoming Engagements

Princess Anne’s visit to Australia will conclude on 11 November. After that, she plans to travel to Singapore for a two-day engagement celebrating 60 years of diplomatic relations with the UK.

Accompanying her on this trip is her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence. Upon returning to the UK, Princess Anne is scheduled to present the Merchant Navy Medal for Meritorious Service on 18 November. A dinner at the Royal Academy of Engineering will follow that evening.
