Hyderabad Hosts International Short Film Festival, December 19-21

The Telangana Government is taking significant steps to enhance its film and television landscape. It has approved multiple initiatives to support this vibrant sector, including the upcoming Hyderabad International Short Film Festival.
Hyderabad International Short Film Festival Details
Scheduled from December 19 to 21, 2025, the festival will be hosted in collaboration with the Dadasaheb Phalke School of Film Studies. This pivotal event aims to showcase emerging filmmakers and their unique stories.
Funding and Collaborations
- A budget of ₹30 lakh has been allocated from the Telangana Film Development Corporation (TGFDC) for the festival.
- Another ₹30 lakh is set aside for the Young Filmmakers Awards Function, also funded by TGFDC.
Establishment of Committees
To enhance the film initiatives, a panel has been formed that includes notable figures in the industry:
- Singer Rahul Sipligunj
- Director Balagam Venu
- Director Harish Shankar
- Cinematographer P.G. Vinda
A separate committee is also established to develop guidelines and designs for the upcoming Telangana Television Awards 2024.
Government Commitment to Film and Television
Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy emphasized that these initiatives are part of the government’s commitment to fostering creative talent. This includes ongoing support for various film-related events.
Earlier, the inaugural Gaddar Telangana Film Awards took place on June 14, 2025, showcasing the government’s sustained efforts in promoting the film sector.
Additionally, the launch of the ‘Film in Telangana’ portal is expected to boost film and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism in the state.
These initiatives represent a strategic move to enhance Telangana’s standing as a key player in India’s film and television industry.
