Gervonta Davis: World Champion Boxer Accused of Battery and Kidnapping

Gervonta Davis, the lightweight world champion boxer, is facing serious allegations from an ex-girlfriend. A new civil lawsuit has been filed against him, accusing him of battery and kidnapping, among other charges.
Details of the Lawsuit
The lawsuit, filed by Courtney Rossel in Miami-Dade County on Thursday, alleges that Davis committed several acts of violence. Rossel seeks over $50,000 in compensatory and punitive damages, and requests a jury trial to address the claims.
Accusations Against Davis
- Battery
 - Aggravated battery
 - False imprisonment
 - Kidnapping
 - Intentional infliction of emotional distress

According to Rossel, Davis attacked her at her workplace on October 27. She also claims he had threatened her life in the past. The lawsuit details at least four prior incidents where he reportedly physically assaulted and choked her.
Psychological Impact
Rossel asserts she is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and is currently seeking therapeutic treatment for her condition. These allegations come shortly after a domestic violence case against Davis was dropped by another former girlfriend.
Davis’ Legal History
The boxer has a history of legal troubles related to violence. In February 2020 and December 2022, he faced battery domestic violence charges. More recently, in 2023, Davis served 44 days in jail for violating a 90-day house arrest linked to a hit-and-run case that occurred in Baltimore in November 2020.
Upcoming Fight
Despite these serious allegations, Davis is scheduled to fight Jake Paul in an exhibition match on November 14 in Miami. Most Valuable Promotions, the event’s promoters, have begun an investigation into the lawsuit. They stated their commitment to handling the situation responsibly while condemning all forms of violence.
Statement from Fight Promoters
The promoters said, “We are gathering information and reviewing the details to ensure any decision is thoroughly vetted.” They promised to determine their next steps after concluding the review and consulting with the relevant parties.
As this situation develops, Davis’ representatives have chosen not to comment, citing the ongoing legal matters.
