Bears’ DE Dayo Odeyingbo Out for Season: Report

Reports indicate that Bears defensive end Dayo Odeyingbo has suffered a significant injury. He tore his Achilles tendon during the game against the Cincinnati Bengals and will be sidelined for the remainder of the season.
Bears’ Defensive End Depth Affected
The injury to Odeyingbo exacerbates the already pressing need for additional pass-rush support. This comes just ahead of the NFL trade deadline, as the Bears look to strengthen their defense.
Rostering Challenges for the Bears
Odeyingbo is not the only loss for the Bears. Shemar Turner, a rookie defensive end drafted in the second round, will also miss the season due to injury. Currently, the Bears’ defensive end roster features:
- Montez Sweat
 - Daniel Hardy
 - Austin Booker
 - Dominique Robinson (who missed the last game due to injury)

Odeyingbo had recently signed a three-year, $48 million contract with the Bears after transitioning from the Indianapolis Colts. Although he recorded only one sack in Week 1, his versatility as a pass-rusher was highly valued.
Latest Updates and Performance Insights
During the fourth quarter of the recent game, Odeyingbo initially reported an ankle injury. He left the locker room using crutches and wearing a brace. Throughout this season, he has started in every game, contributing significantly with three-quarters of the team’s defensive snaps.
Looking ahead, the Bears will need to regroup quickly. They currently hold a 5-3 record and are set to host the New York Giants at Soldier Field this Sunday. Coach Ben Johnson is expected to address the media regarding the team’s injuries and future strategies.
