Man Utd Proposes £44m for Ex-Barcelona Star Amid Vinicius Bid Frenzy

Manchester United is making headlines with their ambitious plans in the transfer market. The club has reportedly put forth an offer of £44 million for former Barcelona forward Vitor Roque, while also expressing interest in Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior.
Manchester United’s Transfer Strategy
This summer, Manchester United successfully restructured their squad after a disappointing 2024/25 season, where they finished 15th in the Premier League without securing any trophies. To finance their new acquisitions, the club sold several key players, including Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund, and Jadon Sancho.
With funds raised from these sales, Manchester United invested around £230 million. They enhanced their attacking options by signing:
- Benjamin Sesko
- Bryan Mbeumo
- Matheus Cunha
Additionally, they secured Senne Lammens to replace Andre Onana as their primary goalkeeper. These changes have resulted in three consecutive victories, lifting them to sixth place in the league.
Future Transfer Targets
- Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace)
- Elliot Anderson (Nottingham Forest)
Vitor Roque’s Situation
Vitor Roque, a 20-year-old forward, caught the attention of Manchester United after his brief and tumultuous time at Barcelona. He joined the Catalan club in 2023 but had a short stint due to disagreements with management, leading to a loan at Real Betis. Recently, he transferred to Palmeiras in January for over £21 million.
During his tenure at Palmeiras, Roque has tallied 17 goals in 47 matches. Rumors suggest that United’s offer of £44 million serves as a starting point, with Palmeiras indicating they will not entertain lower bids for the talented forward.
Vinicius Junior’s Negotiation Landscape
In parallel, Manchester United is also eyeing Vinicius Junior, who currently faces uncertainty at Real Madrid. Reports indicate that the 23-year-old star is not satisfied under coach Xabi Alonso, which opens avenues for a transfer.
United is prepared to make a significant investment by potentially offering €200 million (approximately £175 million) for Vinicius. This substantial sum could compel Real Madrid to reconsider their stance on retaining the player, especially with his impressive market value.
As Manchester United navigates this transfer window, their efforts to enhance both their attacking and defensive lines continue to evolve. With strategic offers on the table, the upcoming months could bring pivotal changes to the club’s roster.
