Crews Combat Major Fire in Blackwood, Gloucester Township, New Jersey

In the early hours of Saturday, a significant fire gutted an apartment building in the Blackwood section of Gloucester Township, New Jersey. The incident took place shortly after 2 a.m. on Little Gloucester Road, impacting all 41 units of the building.
Response to the Blaze
The fire drew a massive response from local emergency agencies. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they were confronted with heavy smoke and flames emanating from the building’s third floor. Due to the intensity of the fire, several rescues were conducted.
Injuries and Hospitalizations
- One individual was airlifted via medevac for treatment.
- A firefighter was admitted to the hospital but is now reported to be in stable condition.
- Five residents suffered from injuries, with one person in serious condition.

Gloucester Township Mayor David R. Mayer described the situation as “very bad,” though he acknowledged it could have been much worse. Currently, nearly 100 residents have been displaced due to the fire.
