Rotherham Honors 2025 Armistice and Remembrance Day

Rotherham is set to honor its fallen heroes during the annual Armistice and Remembrance Day events. The ceremonies will take place on Sunday, November 9, 2025. This year’s event will feature a parade, a two-minute silence, and a wreath-laying service in Clifton Park.

Details of the Remembrance Parade

The parade will begin outside the Garden House at 10:35 a.m. It will include uniformed groups, veterans, and various organizations from the armed forces community. The procession will move through Clifton Park towards the Bandstand and conclude at the Cenotaph War Memorial.

Commemorative Service

A service at the Cenotaph will be led by Reverend Canon Phil Batchford from Rotherham Minster. The ceremony will include:

  • The Act of Remembrance
  • The national two-minute silence
  • A wreath-laying ceremony

Rotherham’s Mayor, Councillor Rukhsana Ismail, and the Council Leader, Councillor Chris Read, will lay wreaths on behalf of the borough. Community members are encouraged to participate by laying their wreaths after the official ceremony.

In observance of Armistice Day

Following the Remembrance Sunday events, Mayor Ismail will lead a two-minute silence in All Saints Square on Tuesday, November 11. This moment will be observed at 11:00 a.m., marking the end of World War I on November 11, 1918.
