Disneyland Shutters 7 Attractions Ahead of Busy Christmas Season

Disneyland is set for significant changes as it prepares for the highly anticipated Christmas season. The Anaheim theme park will temporarily close seven attractions for refurbishment to ensure a seamless holiday experience.
Attractions Affected by Temporary Closures
The following attractions at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure will close starting in November:
- It’s a Small World: Closed from October 31 to November 13 for its annual holiday transformation.
- Redwood Creek Challenge Trail: Out of service from November 1 to November 13 after the Halloween overlay is removed.
- Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes: Closed on November 3-6 and November 10-13 for seasonal maintenance.
- Sailing Ship Columbia: Out of service from November 2-6 and November 10-13, causing traffic disruptions on the Rivers of America.
- Pixie Hollow: Open only on select days, closing on November 4, 6, 11, 13, 18, 20, 25, and 27.
- Paint the Night Parade: Hiatus from November 10 to January 7 to accommodate 70th anniversary programming.
- Fantasmic: Nights affected will be from November 2-6, November 10-13, and November 17-20.
Additional Refurbishments
Several attractions are already undergoing refurbishments:
- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad: Closed since early September and is expected to remain closed until at least December 9.
- Storybook Land Canal Boats and Casey Jr. Circus Train: Undergoing extended refurbishments and will not reopen until at least December 9.
- Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln: Closed since April, with a return anticipated in fall 2026.
Upcoming Events and Celebrations
Disneyland is preparing for its 70th anniversary celebration, which will run from May 16, 2025, until summer 2026. As part of this celebration, the “Walt Disney — A Magical Life” show debuted in July and will feature prominently during the anniversary period.
