The 26-year-old is currently in his first full season with the team, having demonstrated impressive skill early in the 2025-26 season.

A Strong Start for Necas

In just 11 games, Necas has tallied 13 points, including 7 goals and 6 assists. His performance places him among the team leaders in various categories:

  • Goals: 2nd
  • Points: 3rd
  • Assists: 5th
  • Power-play points: T-3rd (4 points)
  • Multi-point games: T-3rd (3 games)

Necas began the season on a remarkable eight-game point streak, scoring 6 goals and adding 6 assists. This marks the longest scoring streak to start a season in his career.

Trades and Career Highlights

Necas joined the Avalanche following a trade with the Carolina Hurricanes on January 24, 2025. Since then, he has registered 41 points (18 goals and 23 assists) in 41 regular-season games. Notably, he achieved his 40th point as a member of the Avalanche in just 38 games on October 23, 2025, setting a franchise record for the fastest reach of this milestone since the team’s move to Denver.

During the 2024-25 season, he marked significant achievements, ending with career highs of 83 total points, 56 assists, and 37 power-play points. His 27 goals were also one shy of his personal best from the previous season. His power-play performance ranked him T-3rd in the NHL for that season.

Impressive Career Statistics

Across 452 career NHL games with both the Avalanche and Hurricanes, Necas has accumulated 339 points (131 goals, 208 assists). Starting from his first full NHL season in 2019-20, he has consistently performed at a high level, with three seasons boasting over 20 goals and two seasons exceeding 70 points.

During his impressive rise, he has also been recognized, being named the NHL’s First Star for November 2024 after recording 22 points (7 goals and 15 assists) in just 15 games. His 13-game point streak within that timeframe included his 100th NHL goal.

International Representation

Martin Necas has represented Czechia on multiple international platforms. He is currently part of the preliminary roster for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina, Italy. He was instrumental in leading Czechia to gold at the 2024 World Championship, their first gold in 14 years. Additionally, he has competed at the World Junior Championship from 2017 to 2019 and has registered notable achievements including leading the 2018 event in assists and points.
