Thunder’s Topic Undergoes Treatment for Testicular Cancer

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Nikola Topic has commenced chemotherapy following a diagnosis of testicular cancer. This news was confirmed by the team’s general manager, Sam Presti, during a press briefing.
Diagnosis and Treatment Journey
Topic, the 12th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, experienced a setback last season due to a torn ACL and was unable to play. His current diagnosis adds another challenge as he begins treatment.
In early October, Topic had a biopsy at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. After the diagnosis was confirmed, he requested the Thunder to keep it confidential until he initiated chemotherapy.
Positive Outlook
Presti shared that doctors are optimistic about Topic’s long-term prognosis. He emphasized the importance of focusing on health over basketball during this period.
