The YES Network has decided not to renew the contract of veteran Yankees analyst John Flaherty as part of its latest broadcast changes. Flaherty, who has been with the network for two decades, began his career with the Yankees in 2006, after a 14-year career as a catcher. His departure is part of YES’s strategy to streamline broadcasts and emphasize its top commentators.

Sources indicate that YES is making significant staffing adjustments. The network aims to feature its leading commentators, David Cone, Paul O’Neill, and Joe Girardi, in every game next season. All three analysts have championship experience with the Yankees during their successful late 1990s and early 2000s run.
