The Utah Mammoth have made a significant move in their organization by signing center Logan Cooley to an eight-year contract extension valued at $80 million. This strategic decision aims to secure one of their star players for the long term, capable of enhancing the team’s competitive edge.
Mammoth Secures Cooley with a Major Contract Extension
Logan Cooley, only 21 years old, has emerged as a key player for the Mammoth this season. He currently leads the team in goals with eight and is tied for second in points, totaling 12 across just 11 games. This performance has helped propel the Mammoth to the top of the Central Division standings, showcasing an impressive record of 8-3-0.
Cooley’s Notable Achievements
Cooley is currently on a four-game point streak that includes six goals and three assists. His recent performance included a goal during a 6-3 loss against the Edmonton Oilers, which halted the Mammoth’s seven-game winning streak. Remarkably, he has made history by becoming the first player in NHL history to score all of his first eight goals of the season in the first period.
Cooley’s Commitment to the Team

In his previous season, Cooley recorded 25 goals and 40 assists, bringing his overall NHL tally to 53 goals and 68 assists across 168 games, having played for both the Mammoth and the Arizona organization, where he was picked third overall in the 2022 Draft.
Mammoth’s Young Core and Future Prospects
The Mammoth’s general manager, Bill Armstrong, is building a strong young core. This is highlighted by the recent signing of forward Dylan Guenther, who agreed to an eight-year deal with an average annual value exceeding $7.1 million, extending through the 2032-33 season. Additionally, forward JJ Peterka, signed for $7.7 million AAV through 2030 after being acquired from the Buffalo Sabres, adds to the team’s promising future.
