World Evangelical Alliance Launches Global Assembly in Seoul: ‘Gospel for All by 2033’

The World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) commenced its 14th General Assembly on October 27, 2025, at Sarang Church in Seoul, South Korea. This significant event attracted hundreds of evangelical leaders from around the globe, united under the theme “The Gospel for Everyone by 2033.” The assembly will run from October 27 to 31 and marks a pivotal moment in the worldwide evangelical movement.
The Gathering of Evangelical Leaders
Representatives from nine regional and 161 national alliances gathered, symbolizing a collective strength of over 600 million evangelicals. Rev. Dr. Goodwill Shana, the WEA Executive Chair, opened the assembly with a message of unity. He emphasized that the gathering is not just a meeting but a family reunion and a chance to rethink the WEA’s role in the global Church.
The Transition of Leadership
Shana pointed out the assembly’s importance in transitioning to a new International Council and welcoming a new Secretary General. He emphasized that the WEA’s true power lies in the interconnectedness of its churches and leaders worldwide.
“We are evangelicals united for global transformation,” Shana stated. “Together, we illustrate the unity that Christ offers to all.”
Inaugural Address by Botrus Mansour
Attorney Botrus Mansour, the new Secretary General-designate, delivered his first address, highlighting the bond shared among Christians worldwide. He referenced scripture, reinforcing the significance of unity within diversity.
Celebrating Diversity in Unity
Mansour recognized the various languages, cultures, and traditions present in the evangelical community. He remarked, “We are diverse, but the wall of separation has been demolished. We are one in Christ.” He urged delegates to embrace this assembly as an opportunity for collaboration in fulfilling their God-given mission.
Welcoming Messages from Global Leaders
Godfrey Yogarajah, chair of the Asia Evangelical Alliance, welcomed attendees, framing the assembly as a critical moment for evangelical cooperation. He noted Asia’s rich heritage and growth in evangelism.

- Stressed the need for spiritual renewal and mutual encouragement.
Rev. Seok-soon Im, chairman of the Korea Evangelical Fellowship, also provided greetings. He conveyed gratitude to Sarang Church and Yoido Full Gospel Church for their efforts in organizing the event. Im expressed a desire for the assembly to foster a renewed spirit of Jesus Christ that would reach all nations.
The Vision for 2033
The assembly’s theme, “The Gospel for Everyone by 2033,” is aligned with Ephesians 2:13–18. It reflects the WEA’s dedication to ensuring that every individual has the chance to hear and engage with the gospel in the coming decade. Events throughout the week will feature worship, prayer, discussion panels, and strategic conversations aimed at fostering cooperation and enhancing evangelism across various cultures.
