North Carolina Father Reports Killing Four Children Found in Trunk: Sheriff

A tragic incident has unfolded in North Carolina, where a father is facing murder charges after the bodies of four children were discovered. Wellington Dickens III, a 38-year-old man, allegedly reported the deaths himself during a 911 call.

Details of the Incident

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office reported that three biological children and one stepchild were found deceased. Their remains were located in the trunk of a vehicle in Dickens’ garage in Zebulon, which is situated east of Raleigh.

Victims Identified

  • Leah Dickens, age 6
  • Zoe Dickens, age 9
  • Wellington Dickens, age 10
  • Sean Brasfield, age 18

Additionally, authorities discovered Dickens’ 3-year-old son unharmed in the home.

Legal Proceedings

Wellington Dickens made his first court appearance on Tuesday, where he faced charges concerning one of his juvenile children. He remains in custody at the Johnston County jail without bond. The sheriff’s office is in the process of filing additional murder charges related to the other children.

Investigation Status

At this time, authorities have not released a motive for the killings or the cause of death. Officials described that the remains had been in the vehicle for “a long period of time.” Furthermore, the Johnston County Public Defender’s Office has been assigned to represent Dickens, but no immediate comments have been made.

Court records indicate that the alleged offenses took place on May 1. This heartbreaking event has left the community in shock and mourning.
