Budweiser Stage in Toronto Renamed and Set for Transformation

Toronto’s Budweiser Stage has been officially renamed the RBC Amphitheatre, effective immediately. This change was jointly announced by Live Nation and RBC on October 28, 2025. This renaming concludes a seven-year period under Budweiser branding and marks a significant shift in sponsorship history.
Venue History
Originally known as the Molson Amphitheatre, the venue opened in 1995. It underwent several name changes, becoming the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre in 2010 and then the Budweiser Stage in 2018. Its new name reflects RBC’s commitment as the venue’s primary sponsor.
Future Transformation Plans
The RBC sponsorship initiates a larger transformation aimed to convert the venue into an all-season facility by 2030. This ambitious project will require nearly two years of renovation, with closures expected from fall 2027 to summer 2029. After this period, the amphitheatre will reopen temporarily for summer concerts while renovations continue.
Key Details of the Transformation
- Renovation Duration: Fall 2027 to Summer 2029
- Return as: Temporary summer-only concert venue post-renovation
- Projected Annual Attendance: Over 1.5 million concertgoers
Enhanced Features
The upcoming renovation includes several upgrades aimed at improving the overall experience for attendees:
- New pedestrian bridge for better crowd flow
- Expanded food and beverage options
- Lookout deck for enhanced views
- Maintenance of signature open-lawn seating

Michael Rapino, President and CEO of Live Nation Entertainment, emphasizes that the rebranding to RBC Amphitheatre will enhance Toronto’s reputation as a global entertainment hub. He states, “With these changes, RBC Amphitheatre will become a world-class venue with unmatched acoustics and fan-friendly design.”
RBC President and CEO, Dave McKay, echoes similar sentiments. He believes the collaboration will draw more top performers and provide fans with exceptional music and entertainment experiences. The upgraded venue is expected to create hundreds of new jobs and boost local businesses.
