Ethan Quinn Approaches ATP Record with Ninth Qualifying Triumph at Paris Masters

Ethan Quinn’s impressive performance at the Rolex Paris Masters has placed him on the verge of breaking an ATP record. With a recent victory over Botic van de Zandschulp, Quinn has successfully advanced through the qualifying rounds into the main draw for the ninth time in 2025. This achievement brings him just one shy of the all-time record for a single ATP season.

Ethan Quinn’s Journey in 2025

The current record is held by Alexei Popyrin and Mischa Zverev, who each achieved this feat in 2019 and 2016, respectively. Quinn’s accomplishment also marks the first time since 2022 that a player has reached nine qualifying advances, a record previously set by Taro Daniel.

At only 21 years old and hailing from Fresno, California, Quinn has climbed to a career-high ranking of No. 71 this week. His journey through the qualifying rounds this year includes notable tournaments in:

  • Tokyo
  • Mallorca
  • Madrid
  • Barcelona
  • Miami
  • Indian Wells
  • Dallas
  • Roland Garros

Additional Achievements

Quinn’s path to the main draw also included an entry as a lucky loser in Delray Beach after falling short in the final of qualifying against Zach Svajda. Before competing at the Paris Indoors, he faced setbacks in the final qualifying rounds in both Vienna and Stockholm.

Earlier in the year, Quinn began his competitive season at the Canberra Challenger event in Australia. There, he advanced through the qualifiers and reached the final, where he ultimately lost to Joao Fonseca.

A Promising Future

Before turning professional, Quinn made headlines by winning the NCAA singles title while attending the University of Georgia in 2023 as a freshman. His journey through the ATP Tour qualifying rounds positions him among a select group of ten players who have achieved similar successes in the past.

Quinn joins the ranks of esteemed players such as:

  • Taro Daniel (2022)
  • Ryan Harrison (2016)
  • Radek Stepanek (2016)
  • Kevin Anderson (2010)
  • Radel Stepanek (2002)
  • Michael Tebbutt (1997)
  • Danny Sapsfordin (1995)
  • Andrei Olhovskiy (1992)
  • Gianlucca Pozzi (1991)
  • Shuzo Matsuoka (1990)

Ethan Quinn’s aspiration to equal or surpass the ATP record for qualifying advances adds excitement to his rising career. His future in professional tennis looks bright as he continues to make his mark on the ATP Tour.
