Scandinavian Royal Embarks on Camino de Santiago from Logroño to Nájera

European royals often find themselves drawn to the memorable journey of the Camino de Santiago. Recently, Countess Alexandra, a former princess, embarked on this famous pilgrimage across the northern regions of Spain.
Countess Alexandra’s Journey: Logroño to Nájera
Starting her journey, Countess Alexandra shared insights from her first day on the Camino. She set out from Logroño, covering a total distance of 28 kilometers to Nájera.
First Day Highlights
- Departure: Logroño after a hearty breakfast.
- Essentials packed in her backpack: water, snacks, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
- Service: A minivan transported their luggage to the evening’s hotel for €4 a day.
As she journeyed through La Rioja, Alexandra enjoyed the beautiful landscapes filled with lush forests and vineyards. They made a pit stop in Navarrete to relax and admire its ornate cathedral.
Unexpected Detours
Despite the plan, miscommunication led to a longer trek. Instead of the intended 28 kilometers, they found themselves walking 32 kilometers, equating to approximately 40,600 steps. Alexandra noted this as a fascinating start to their Camino experience.
Arrival in Nájera
Upon reaching Nájera, Countess Alexandra remarked on the city’s charm, although their explorations were brief. After checking into their hotel, they quickly recovered from their journey with much-needed rest.
Countess Alexandra’s venture along the Camino de Santiago showcases the ongoing allure of this spiritual and scenic route, which attracts many, including members of royalty. Her prior visit to Galicia last year emphasizes her affection for Northern Spain, melding both adventure and culture.
