Metrolinx Expands GO Transit: New Rush Hour Train Trips Monday

Metrolinx is enhancing GO Transit service with a series of new train trips and the opening of a new station. Starting Monday, commuters can look forward to an increase in transportation options across various transit lines.
New Rush Hour Train Trips
On the Lakeshore East line, six additional rush hour trips will be introduced. This includes three morning and three afternoon services:
- One morning trip from Durham College Oshawa GO to Union Station.
- Two morning trips departing from Whitby GO heading to downtown Toronto.
- Afternoon trips leaving Union Station towards Whitby GO.
Stouffville Line Enhancements
The Stouffville line will also experience upgrades with two new rush hour trips:
- A train will depart Unionville GO at 7:59 a.m., stopping at all stations before reaching Union Station at 8:40 a.m.
- A second trip will leave Union Station at 4:50 p.m., arriving at Unionville GO by 5:31 p.m.
Barrie Line Additions
Additionally, the Barrie line will see improved service:
- One departure from Aurora GO at 7:20 a.m. arriving at Union Station by 8:14 a.m.
- Another train leaving Union Station at 4:53 p.m., arriving at Aurora GO by 5:46 p.m.
New Confederation GO Station
The newly completed Confederation GO station will serve the Lakeshore West line, facilitating travel between Toronto and Hamilton. The official opening, announced by Ontario Premier Doug Ford and Hamilton Mayor Andrea Horwath, is set for Monday. All weekday and weekend trips will now stop at this new station.
Additional Service Improvements
- Seven select trips will be extended to and from West Harbour GO.
- Appleby GO will enjoy expanded service on six select trips to Oakville GO.
- From November 1, eight new weekend trips to Niagara Falls GO will be introduced, increasing from three trips per day.
