Men’s Basketball Defeats K-State 100-91 in Exhibition Triumph

The Mizzou men’s basketball team achieved a remarkable victory in their recent exhibition match against Kansas State, winning 100-91. The Tigers maintained a lead for 31 minutes, showcasing their skill and teamwork throughout the game.

Mizzou Players Shine in Exhibition Victory

Several players were instrumental in Mizzou’s triumph. Junior Anthony Robinson II stood out with 16 points, shooting a perfect 6-for-6 from the field. He also led the team with four assists.

Additionally, graduate student Jayden Stone contributed another 16 points, hitting two three-pointers. Senior Shawn Phillips Jr. had a solid performance, finishing with 14 points and a team-high 10 rebounds, while sophomore Annor Boateng added 15 points on only five attempts, along with six rebounds.

Game Recap

The game began with a competitive first half, featuring four lead changes in the opening 10 minutes. Kansas State initially led 16-10, but Mizzou responded with a 14-point run, including 11 points from Robinson. This surge gave Mizzou an 8-point advantage at 24-16.

As the teams exchanged baskets, Mizzou went on a 10-4 run, driven by a jumper from Sebastian Mack, concluding the first half with a 47-39 lead.

In the second half, the Tigers started strong, with back-to-back dunks from Shawn Phillips Jr. that pushed the lead to 11 points. Despite occasional back-and-forth scoring, a dunk by Jayden Stone ignited a significant 17-4 run, elevating Mizzou’s lead to 19 points at 82-63. The Tigers maintained control, ultimately winning the match against their former conference rival.

Team Performance Statistics

Mizzou delivered an impressive performance, shooting 54.8% from the field. The team also showed efficiency at the free-throw line, converting 26 of their 34 attempts, for a shooting percentage of 76.5%.

Upcoming Schedule

Mizzou will take their winning momentum on the road next week, facing Howard to kick off the regular season. The game is scheduled for Monday at 6 p.m.
