Driver Sought in Fatal Downtown Scooter Collision

The Austin Police Department is actively seeking the driver involved in a tragic incident that led to a fatal downtown scooter collision. This collision, which occurred earlier this month, has drawn significant attention from local authorities.

Incident Overview

On October 18, 2023, around 11:30 p.m., officers responded to a crash at the intersection of E. 11th Street and San Jacinto Boulevard. The collision involved a truck and a scooter, and the truck fled the scene shortly after the incident.

Victim Details

The victim has been identified as 33-year-old Khaled Saadeddine. He was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries but sadly succumbed to those injuries the following day, October 19, 2023.

Investigation Status

This incident marks the 78th fatal crash in Austin for 2023, contributing to a total of 82 fatalities this year. In comparison, there were 71 fatal crashes and 76 deaths recorded on October 18, 2022.

Public Appeal

The Austin Police Department has released images of the suspect truck and is urging anyone with information to come forward. They are particularly interested in identifying the driver involved.
