FSU to Honor Natasha Howard by Retiring Her Jersey Nov. 16

Florida State University (FSU) will honor Natasha Howard by retiring her jersey on November 16, 2023. This special event will take place after the women’s basketball game against Indiana, scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center.
Celebrating Natasha Howard’s Legacy
Natasha Howard, an FSU alumna and a basketball star, has left an indelible mark on the program. FSU head coach Brooke Wyckoff praised Howard, stating, “She gave everything she had to this program, and she continues to make us proud.”
Impressive Achievements at FSU
- Career points: 1,811
- Average points per game: 14.0 (over 129 games)
- Career rebounds: 1,047 (school record)
- Double-doubles: 41 (previous record, now held by Makayla Timpson)
- Blocks: 186
- Steals: 209
Howard earned several accolades during her time at FSU. She was a two-time All-ACC First Team selection (2013, 2014) and received All-Defensive team honors in 2012 and 2014. As a freshman, she was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team and became a Full Court Press Third Team Freshman All-American.
Historic Final Year
In her senior season, Howard earned two All-America honorable mention awards from the AP and WBCA. She scored 675 points that year, averaging an impressive 20.5 points per game. During this year, she also set a shared school record for points in a game with 40 against Syracuse.
Professional Success
Drafted fifth overall by the Indiana Fever in 2014, Howard has enjoyed a stellar 11-year professional career. Over her career, she has averaged 11.4 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. In 2019, she won the WNBA Defensive Player of the Year award and has been a three-time WNBA Champion.

In addition to her WNBA success, Howard has triumphed internationally, securing titles such as the FIBA Europe SuperCup in 2023 and the Turkish Cup in 2024, alongside her two EuroLeague Championship wins in 2023 and 2024.
Part of a Proud Tradition
Howard’s jersey retirement will make her the fifth player in FSU women’s basketball history to receive this honor. She joins the ranks of Sue Galkantas, Tia Paschal, Wanda Burns, and Brooke Wyckoff. The last joint jersey retirement ceremony took place for Burns and Paschal on January 28, 2007.
