Poker Fraud Uncovered: X-Ray Tables, High-Tech Glasses, and NBA Players Involved

Authorities have uncovered a significant poker fraud scheme involving advanced technology and notable figures, including NBA players. This scheme reportedly exploited the anonymity of the poker environment, leading to substantial financial losses for victims.
Poker Fraud Scheme Overview
According to prosecutors, participants allegedly manipulated games by rotating players and intentionally losing high-stakes games to co-conspirators. This strategy helped them avoid detection.
Financial Impact
The financial implications were staggering. Each game reportedly resulted in victims losing tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars. The scheme’s operators allegedly laundered these funds using various methods, including:
- Cryptocurrency transactions
- Cash exchanges
- Shell corporations
A portion of the profits was purportedly funneled to assist in further enhancing the scheme, which, according to FBI authorities, also funded criminal enterprises linked to organized crime families.
Key Figures Arrested
One prominent figure involved is Chauncey Billups, the head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers. He was accused of participating in the fixed games and was subsequently arrested in Portland. Following his arrest, the NBA placed Billups on administrative leave.
The Portland Trail Blazers acknowledged the allegations and stated they are fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation. Billups’ attorney, Chris Heywood, defended his client, describing him as a “man of integrity” who intends to fight these allegations.
Additional Charges
Another individual, identified as Jones, was arrested on charges related to both the poker fraud and a separate NBA injuries scheme. He faces two counts of wire fraud conspiracy and two counts of money laundering conspiracy.
This unfolding situation raises serious questions about the integrity of those involved and the broader implications for both professional sports and the gambling industry.
