Sebastian Hoeness Comments on Fenerbahçe and Tedesco: ‘I Don’t Know Them’

Stuttgart is set to face Fenerbahçe in the UEFA Europa League group stage on 24 October 2023, with kickoff scheduled for 19:45. Ahead of the match, Stuttgart’s head coach Sebastian Hoeness addressed the media, along with player Atakan Karazor, during a press conference.

Sebastian Hoeness on Fenerbahçe and Tedesco

When asked about Fenerbahçe’s recent performance following their league victory, Hoeness remarked, “They played a normal game, just like the usual Fenerbahçe. Therefore, we don’t need to change our approach.” He confirmed the absence of injuries in his squad, stating, “The players are in good condition with no injuries.”

Hoeness acknowledged Fenerbahçe’s strengths and expressed respect for their head coach, Domenico Tedesco, saying, “I don’t personally know Domenico. However, he’s guiding the team well.” He noted that playing in Istanbul, especially in front of a supportive home crowd, poses a challenge. “They have several effective players, and they know how to maintain possession and attack efficiently,” he added.

Hoeness emphasized the importance of focusing on their own tactics, saying, “We have our strategies, and we will try to counter their strengths. We will do everything possible to win.” He also addressed questions about rumored interest from Fenerbahçe after José Mourinho’s departure, firmly stating, “No, I have not received any offers.”

Atakan Karazor’s Insights

Atakan Karazor shared his excitement about the upcoming match, mentioning that family and friends would be in attendance. “It feels great to be home. I know the atmosphere here well,” he noted. He previously experienced the intensity of the Kadıköy crowd and expressed confidence in Stuttgart’s efforts for all three points.

In response to inquiries about the absence of teammate Ermedin Demirovic, Karazor said, “It’s unfortunate that Demirovic won’t play, but he is recovering quickly. We will adapt without him.”

Karazor also reflected on his joy at being part of the national team and highlighted his connections with Fenerbahçe players. “I have many friends in the national team, including some who play for Fenerbahçe. I’m looking forward to the match tomorrow,” he said.
