Fins Place TE Waller on IR Due to Pectoral Injury

Miami Dolphins tight end Darren Waller has been placed on injured reserve due to a pectoral injury sustained during a recent game. The injury occurred in the first half of the Dolphins’ loss to the Cleveland Browns, marking a challenging season for Waller.

Darren Waller’s Injury Details

This latest setback is particularly frustrating for Waller, as he has already missed the first three games of the season due to a hip injury. He sustained this initial injury during training camp, limiting his participation early in the season.

Performance Before Injury

Waller made a notable return in Week 4, achieving three catches for 27 yards and scoring two touchdowns. His performance improved the following week, where he recorded five catches for 78 yards and another touchdown against the Carolina Panthers. However, his contributions diminished in subsequent games, where he totaled only two catches for 12 yards.

Impact on the Dolphins

  • The Dolphins are currently experiencing a three-game losing streak.
  • Waller’s absence might further hinder their struggling passing offense.

Future Outlook

Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel highlighted the severity of Waller’s injury, mentioning it was a soft tissue issue. The team is hopeful for his return but acknowledges that his recovery will take time. Waller is eligible to return in Week 12 against the New Orleans Saints, following the team’s bye in Week 11.

In a corresponding roster move, the Dolphins have signed tight end Greg Dulcich from their practice squad to fill the gap left by Waller’s absence. Waller was acquired from the Las Vegas Raiders in July and had expressed enthusiasm about reuniting with offensive coordinator Frank Smith, who coached him during his most productive seasons.

As Waller works towards recovery, the Dolphins will be looking to find solutions to enhance their offensive performance moving forward.
