Kings’ Sabonis Sidelined a Week Due to Hamstring Injury

The Sacramento Kings have confirmed that All-Star center Domantas Sabonis will be sidelined for at least a week due to a Grade 1 hamstring strain. This injury occurred during a preseason game against the Los Angeles Clippers last Wednesday. Following this incident, Sabonis missed the team’s final preseason matchup on Friday night while undergoing tests.

Impact on the Kings’ Season Start

The Grade 1 hamstring strain is regarded as a minor injury. However, it will prevent Sabonis from participating in the season opener in Phoenix on Wednesday and the home opener against the Utah Jazz the following Friday. His earliest projected return is on Sunday, October 26, when the Kings face the Los Angeles Lakers.

Current Roster Challenges

In addition to Sabonis’ absence, the Kings are dealing with another injury. Fourth-year power forward Keegan Murray is out for at least a month due to a torn UCL in his left thumb. This has further complicated the team’s lineup as they prepare for the new season.

Players Stepping Up

  • Isaac Jones, a second-year center, has been tested in Sabonis’ absence.
  • Veteran players Dario Saric and Drew Eubanks are also filling in for both Sabonis and Murray.

As the Kings look to adapt without two key players, the upcoming games will be crucial for determining their early season performance. The team aims to build chemistry and find effective strategies that can compensate for the missing talent.
