Conversely, his co-defendants, Mathew Galliher and Nicholas Kieffer, were acquitted of all charges. Both men had also been facing additional gang assault charges, while Kieffer was charged with falsifying records. Kingsley left the courtroom in handcuffs and shackles after his bail was revoked.

Bodycam Evidence and Public Reaction

Bodycam footage from the incident captured corrections officers using excessive force against Brooks. The images showed officers punching and kicking him, as well as grappling him by the neck. This evidence was pivotal in the jury’s proceedings.

Following the verdict, Robert Brooks Jr., the victim’s son, intends to advocate for prison reform. This highlights a growing movement led by the End Prison Violence campaign, which focuses on enhancing the well-being of incarcerated individuals.
